Necklace features genuine freshwater pearls: a single, large white (20x16mm) baroque coin pearl, several white baroque stick pearls, clusters of black rice pearls and silver potato pearls. The iridescent steely grey gemstones in this necklace are Larvikite (a.k.a. Black Labradorite). Additional clusters of white Mother of Pearl and dyed black shell complete the monochromatic scheme. Silver Smoke crystal teardrops and rondelles add a touch of flash.
On a trip to Venice I was captivated by a display of jewelry in a store right off St. Mark’s Square. The designer had grouped glass beads, pearls and gemstones into clusters or "bouquets" that resembled floral arrangements (or in some cases, bowls of fruit). This is my interpretation of the "Venetian Style" design.
