Handcrafted, multi-colored glass beads from Java, Indonesia are stacked up like little cairn stones along with silver plated rondelles and sterling silver beads.
Present day Indonesian artisans employ the same traditional methods as was used in the 13th century Majapahit dynasty. The beads are made with recycled glass that is crushed, melted and poured into sand molds. Each bead is then skillfully hand-bored. Indonesian recycled glass beads are unusual and colorful. The hand-crafted nature of these beads results in irregularities & minor imperfections. No two beads are exactly the same.
