Art Deco style earrings are made with created Rainbow Hematite accented with 14k gold plated beads and chain. These tiny tube-shape beads have the same chemical make up as natural Hematite, but will not chip or break. The beautiful, iridescent, Aurora Borealis effect is achieved with a metallic coating of Titanium.
Genuine Rainbow Hematite is very brittle. It flakes, chips, and breaks easily making it difficult (and impractical) for many jewelry designs. For that reason, much of the Rainbow Hematite used in jewelry is man made.
